| So....now I have an intermittent rapping sound coming from the motor, sound like lifter but hell I don't know, any ideas? Its totally random when its there and gone, warm or cold doesn't make a difference, I changed the oil when I bought the car, and its still full and cleanish. | |

| Better yet, screw the tapping sound, last night when I got back to work I fired it up as usual, let it warm up like 5 minutes, then left and every time id give it gas it would sputter and pop, but idle perfectly, then I gave it gas, it died and wouldnt restart. After pushing it the long ass block back to my shop, i left it there overnight and took my van home, however, this morning, it started perfectly, and ran fine all the way home.
Any ideas? | |

| you need to make the problem happen again before you can continue to diag.
fyi its likely either the maf or o2.
pick up some crc maf cleaner and give it a go. if the problem becomes an issue again, disconnect the o2 and see how it drives.

| Front lowering springs are on, with new bushings and bearings, back ones wouldnt break loose yesterday so said screw it for now.
removed old exhaust with sawzall and hammer, cuz welded piping is awesome, now have a leak in the front, damn vw anyway.....
