The Parts Car.

So I was in the market for a lexus sedan to roll as a daily. I checked out a few, but not any worthy subjects to build on. Wayne texted me thursday about this hatch so I bought it on Friday. No worries, the hatch will attract more hot sluts than a lexus any day, and when i'm done with it, its got ALOT of useable parts for my project car.

I got it for scrap value. Its dirty and rusty but it runs and drives good.




This morning I started working on it.

the exhaust was hacked in every way possible. it was pointed upward and melted the bumper both on the exhaust cut out as well as the upper mounts. it will need some work to get the rear bumper fitting right.


so I installed a new axel back I had lying around. i'll be fixing the rest tomorrow. I also had to replace a brake line that broke while removing the rear suspension.



pulled the seats and cleaned as much as i could. then lowered the rear. fronts will hopefully be done tomorrow.




here you can see where the hot exhaust gasses were passing up around the rear bumper on the tail light area. the bumper monts are melted.

I now in love with hammered out beaters

After the normal mothers day obligations, I was able to get the hatch buttoned up.

I installed the rustybuttrusty top hats in the front and cut the shock towers for the uca's. And we are rolling!

I also had the car fall off a jackstand while I was dropping it down and it caved in the passenger side rocker about 4". it diddnt cause much cosmetic damage but i dont have a pinch weld to lift it on that side now.



Tossed the beater del sol seats that I had taking up space in the garage. Look at that clean blue interiorz!



Then I tossed the eg ex/si lip I had on the shelf from an old car on the beater. Such a minor mod but it goes a long way. It definatly finishes the car off. I also tossed the del-nasty 14's on the car.







Some things I still need to sort out:

-The right side tie rod is slamming the frame, so a frame notch is in order.
-The 14s have fat tires, the car wont drive with them. Tires are rubbing on fender well pinch welds. I had to throw the 13's back on to drive it.
-Exhaust has a leak still at the cat flange, it pry needs a new doughnut.
-Cooling system issues. temp gauge inop. fan does not kick on. diagnosed fan wiring, fan works as designed. needs new fan switch. still need to diag why the temp gauge does not work. possible cluster failure.

not much to do to make it daily duty!

i'd love a woofer but the last system i had in a honda got stolen... and the doors on this hatch dont lock. how much you want for it?

when you get a single ten? the fubar was a 12 lol

$10 for cheap Panasonic radio with sub outputs.

Worked on it a bit tonight. I got the temp gauge working with a barrowed sensor from the b16. I bombed around the neighborhood tonight and still had something slamming hard on dips and bumps. turns out its my transmission. now I need to figure out a way to get more ground clearance.
