| Man that looks SOOO much better than the old wheels. The car just looks much more refined, kind of grown up. Great wheel choice.
And why would you even think twice about trading for the mk1? Unless its rotted out, but even still, the jetta is worth more in parts.
you can find winterbeaters all day for cheap.

| I want something reliable for a winter beater though, and I know that if I traded... it would turn into another project that I couldn't afford. | |

| Need more info on the Jetta to determine whether or not its worth it. Stock motor? Carb or CIS? Does the heat and a/c work? Does it even have a/c? Does it have power steering? How much rust? The most important question of all, will you enjoy driving it? All questions you'd need to find out before trading. I personally wouldn't be opposed to daily driving a mk1 (as long as the heat worked) but you just have to go into that situation knowing its going to have its ups and downs. There isn't much to those old cars and with a Bentley manual most of their issues are easily sorted.
The perfect daily mk1 in my IMO would be one with working heat, no power steering or a/c, 1.7 or 1.8 engine on CIS, minimal rust, and a good five speed for low rpms on the freeway. I definitely wouldn't want someone else's swapped car unless I personally knew them very well.

I got some pretty crappy pictures so I'm not sure how rusty it is. I'll work on uploading them then I'll let you know.

| Doesn't look too bad. I think honestly the most important part is if you'll enjoy driving it everyday. They're not the most comfortable cars lol. Also with that rust along the bottom I'd check to make sure al the fuel and brake lines are in good shape. | |

| Oh and for the record I'd say if that jetta is running good, with good tires and no major rot its worth $1500 max. Prolly less tho because it looks like all the bumpers are faded and the hoods a different color? | |

| all else aside, that is a very clean midwest mk1 jetta. even if the fuel/brake lines are rotted, its not terrible to replace them. even the wild fuel acumulator bends can be had at the dealer for reasonable prices.
it probably has been taken care of if it has lasted this long. its also a good sign that it isnt modified. if it runs/drives good, go for it. mk1's are one of a kind cars, there is nothing like them and you wont regret it.
foxbox is right though. they are not very sought after cars, so they dont normally fetch high resale.

| No pictures until I get back from Florida. There's really not much more to do.. Just waiting on my Off-Road Pipe (cat delete pipe), and then I can put that on, have the paint correction finished, and work on fixing the fenders.
Oh and Chad, can you hook me up with an alignment in like April sometime?

| Just ordered a set of four 205/40/17 Falken 512s tonight for $266 shipped from Discount Tire Direct. They had a $50 rebate going on thru tonight with free shipping, so I took advantage of it. They run super narrow, which allows for more stretch, and less camber. | |
