I've been on the hunt for a project car for the past 3 weeks. After reserch and debate about what chassis i wanted to build and where i wanted to take it i decided that another honda was in store. The main reason being gas milage and reliablilty. Vw's break all the time. $4 gallon gas is on its way this summer and my camry and jetta both suck at being efficient.

I searched long and hard, mostly on the weekends, on all the forums and classifieds for a decent start to a project with real potential. Last weds. this came up on craiglslist locally. The ad read: "94 hondna delsol repair or parts. its got vtech and runs gret"

I could barely tell in the pics it had a b16, but i knew it was there. The owner knew nothing about the car accept "my son told me the vtak motor is worth 1800 bucks!"

The owner was in his 40's or 50's. He gave me the rundown on the car. It apparently had been in his family since new and was very well cared for. His sister drove it from brand new up until 2010. She was involved in an accident smashing the right front nose by a f350 truck. Insurance supposedly totalled the car and was bought back by his sister, who gave him the car to fix it for his son.

He said he never got around to fixing it, and his son wanted a lifted truck now.

I went and checked the car out and offered half of what he was asking (like i always do) and negotiated a deal.

I drove the car home.

Tonight, i decided to pull the engine. I'm not sure if I want to fix this car. I hate red cars. I figured if i do decide to fix it, it'll be easier with the swap pulled.







It ran perfect, but i'm going to go through it and do all the maintence it probably needs to keep it reliable. The thermostat is stuck open so that is getting replaced. T-belt and water pump will be refreshed. Vc and vtec solonoid gaskets will be replaced along with ALOT of detailing and cleaning.

And i'm in the market for a clean shell to drop it in.

you can make loot out of that linkage as it wont work in anything but a del sol without mods!

Booooost.....whatever its in.....Do a jackson racing supercharger this time. With a good tune you wont be disappointed.

I think since it is wrecked in the front already, we should do a eg front end!

oh, u mean you dont remember the broken motor mounts, blown rear bushings, leaking rear calipers, bad wheels bearings, broken exhaust, and nine hundred different lights shining like a christmas tree on my gauge cluster?

U bought the car for a G broken....of course it was broke....fixed it and its been fine....whats the deal?

Most of the vw's ive owned never were broken.

if you diddnt notice, its been winter time. and i've got a winter beater. thats why the car isnt getting driven. it will come out of hibernation next week.

are there any 205/45 federals in stock so i can replace the bad tire on it?

ya, more bullshit that i've got to fix if i decide to build this chassis. there is also rot on the rear rockers... i'm sick of building rusty ass hondas. i really want a mint chassis, it makes suspension work so much easier.
im not body man, i just slap fiberglass and bondo everywhere and it looks like shit.

Buy one of my dad's Porsche chassis, they are all mint! 95% of the cars he buys are from cali. Would be baller to see a slammed 911 rollin around.

You can buy new metal rockers for pretty cheap. But then you gotta cut and weld. I was planning on doing that with the ef before I ran out of money buying shit for the eclipse lol
